This week went very well even though my time was limited on my sessions due to work conflicts and responsibilities of maintaining the house/taking care of my dog as I have been home alone. I ran very well but I played extremely solid. I haven't felt this good about my game ever. For the past couple of weeks before this I was struggling and I allowed variance to affect my play and diminish it into a passive horrible fish type play. After a sweat with Jake over the weekend he got me back on the right track and my results show.
For some reason PT3's all in EV seems to be a little glitchy. For example in todays session it shows this particular hand:
Full Tilt - $0.25 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3: http://www.pokertracker.com
SB: $25.00
BB: $14.87
UTG: $7.65
UTG+1: $9.55
MP: $28.25
MP+1: $40.75
LP: $25.56
Hero (CO): $28.30
BTN: $21.70
SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25
Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has 3c 3s
fold, UTG+1 calls $0.25, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.25, BTN raises to $1.25, fold, BB calls $1.00, UTG+1 calls $1.00, Hero calls $1.00
Flop: ($5.10, 4 players) 8d Kd 3d
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $3.95, BTN calls $3.95, fold, UTG+1 calls $3.95

UTG+1 checks, Hero checks, BTN checks
River: ($16.95, 3 players) 8c
UTG+1 bets $4.35 and is all-in, Hero raises to $23.10 and is all-in, BTN calls $16.50 and is all-in
Hero shows 3c 3s (Full House, Threes full of Eights)
UTG+1 mucks 7d Jd (Flush, King High)
BTN mucks Ad 9s (Flush, Ace High)
Hero wins $51.59
According to PT3 the all in EV for this hand is negative/neutral. Now I believe thats wrong as I got it in with the best hand and pretty much was only beat by higher full houses (which according to the type of players these guys were I expected them to shove with any random hand in this spot). Maybe I don't truly understand all in EV as much as I thought I just figured looking at my graph that you'd think I just got it in as an underdog and sucked out when that is not the case. If anyone can explain it better that'd be great as maybe I'm really just missing something.
Either way I'm very happy with my results and hope I can maintain my game at the level it is at the moment. I'm almost caught up on my losses from last weeks downswing and am ready to keep my profits rising in the hopes to move up in the near future. I'm heading to cape cod for the weekend with my girlfriend so I will not be playing until most likely Monday. Including today I've put in some time playing everyday so far this month and that is something I am proud of as I'm not skipping any days for stupid reasons and am on the right track for getting Iron man again this month.
gj man keep it up. i doubt my sweat really helped your game, but might have got your mind gearing and thinking. I think your doing much better because of the less tables. Keep 4-6 tabling until you feel really comfortable then considering adding a table at a time. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteYour equity in that hand should show as 100%, since you had the winning hand when you got it all in at the river. What does it say your equity is?
ReplyDeleteThanks jake, I think you got it exactly right by saying it helped my mindset/thinking as I believe I had the skills I just was not applying them since my variance affected my game so much I had a completely corrupted a winning mindset.
ReplyDeleteAs for the equity I thought the same thing steve, but as the EV graph shows that wasn't the case for some reason. I'm not on my poker computer so I don't have access to check it further. But in regards to where it is on the graph I posted it would be around hand 1025 you can see how large of a gap the profit went whereas the EV stayed pretty neutral. Seems a bit fishy to me.
