What did I do to deserve this?

To be honest I'm not even mad. Just disappointed since I'm never gonna get outta 50nl with the way I've ran this stake. $870 under EV.

Summer Brainstorm.

So it's official I will be both grinding and doing computer/virus repairs on the side this summer as a means of income.

I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do with my time and how I can really get the best experience summer has to offer. Here are some goals I'm going to shoot for and this time I'm actually going to try and put an honest effort to make them.

Poker Goals:
- Break of stake and do my own thing.
- Play a lot of formats to keep me from burning out and keep the money flowing, but mainly focusing on playing HU.
- Get my roll on 3 sites (FTP, Stars, UB) and play only people I have an edge on (no reg wars until I have a sufficient BR to handle the competition)
-Put in 25-40 hours a week every week and really try to make the best decisions possible in every opportunity.
- Try to not look at cashier/HEM as much as possible even after a session.
- Depending on how my BRs are looking on each site, I'd like to do cashouts every other Monday in order to make sure I'm treating it like a real job and padding my bank accounts.
- No monetary goal as in HU the variance can be too killer (as I've seen in stake thus far), but I'm just really shooting to be motivated to put time in at the tables and start crushing.

Life Goals:
- Take at least 2 vacations as I have one already planned for Cape Cod to stay at our house we own there and then another hopefully with my friends to a beach in Rhode Island.
- Start and complete Insanity workout program 100% and continue working out everyday after it is complete.
- Start eating more healthy and cooking more of my own meals. I've always loved to cook on a grill so I'd like to experiment with more grilling of burgers, chicken, steaks, shrimp, and salmon.
- Play a lot of golf. This is the first year I'll have time to commit everyday to getting in some holes at the course I belong to and I plan on doing so as often as I can. Golf is a stress reliever for me and I could also use the exercise. I hope to be able to get my handicap somewhat respectable through my playing this summer.
- Enjoy life as much as possible, I've been working to completely take the negativity out of my life and to enjoy every moment even if there's something bothering me. I'm blessed with everything I've been given so far and the opportunities and health I have been lucky to have until this point are incredible. I know I could have it much worse and especially in regards to a bad day at the tables nothing should be bringing me down considering all I have to be thankful and happy about.

Running In Circles.

Can't seem to make any progress and keep it there. Really getting fed up with my results this far in stake, hoping to finally just get something going and keep it going.

Mid Week Update.

So far this week I have really not put in the volume I had hoped for thus far. I started it out strong Friday night putting in almost 4 hours worth of time at the tables and since then have only put in a 90 minute session or less. I'm headed to NYC tomorrow for the day with my girlfriend and parents for the day so I won't be getting in any volume whatsoever. Starting Thursday I'm going to commit myself to a goal of 2 and a half hours at the tables a day minimum because my lack of volume is keeping me from being able to move up quick.

On another note I've been contemplating the purchase of Bose Quiet Comfort 15 noise canceling headphones for poker and school use. Dreading the $300 price tag I decided against the purchase. Luckily I got an offer in the mail today for an American Express card in which when you open the account if you hit a certain charge amount within the first two months they give you a free pair of the Quiet Comfort 15 headphones. I applied for the card today and will be using it for all my future purchases in order to hit the target amount needed for the headphones. I'm pretty happy about it considering I wanted an AMEX card (already have a Discover and Mastercard) and now am getting the headphones I wanted for free it's pretty sick. Hopefully the noise canceling function will help me focus on my schoolwork and my play at the tables.

Hopefully will update this weekend after I get in some volume.

Update.

Finally outta the downswing and making progress! My game is as good as it's ever been and I'm feeling very confident and finally running better. Hope this will continue to rise and I'll be able to start moving up the limits.

On another note this break is a trial run for my summer which includes grinding as a job and working out. I'm trying out the "Insanity" workout program by Team Beach Body and its kicking my ass. I've tried P90X in the past and enjoyed the format, but I think Insanity program will be more geared towards me since its a cardio based workout system rather than weight based and without the proper weight setup and accessories it's very hard to complete P90x successfully.

Will be updating more than usual this week as I'll be grinding and working out everyday. I do have plans to go to NYC to see Blue Man Group with my parents and girlfriends Wednesday which will definitely be a fun trip and break from the daily grind.

Hope everyone else is running well and enjoying life :).

I'll end this blog with a humorous hand I played against a complete drooler today:

Things are looking a bit brighter...

On another note I bite the bullet and played the 5th Anniversary Sunday Million yesterday. Got a big hand early in a couldn't help, but call it off hoping for an early double up.

BB wins t21700

Tough luck and possibly could have found a fold but I'm happy with my play as I still believe his range was much wider given his image. I ended up free rolling the tournament after securing a $215 ticket in the $11 turbo satellite so I can't complain.

I've got this last week with a good amount of work so grinding will be limited, but I plan on grinding a ton next week during break and hopefully taking advantage of Star's new march home games deposit bonus.

I'm very happy with my results this month (besides stake which I am not counting due to the fact that I'm not losing any of my money and he does not want me to pay makeup on his initial BR he gave me). I put in a very low volume and ran extremely well so I definitely cannot complain. As of right now I'm still doing the heads up stake and am currently a little under 9 buy-ins under EV in the 11k hands I've played thus far. I'm going to figure out over the next week or so whether or not I'm going to continue this stake or just go back to FR or 6max. I started playing some 6 max yesterday and I really enjoyed playing it and there is a good chance the majority of my play in the future will be there if I do not stick with HU. That's all for now, I'll update again if I know my future plans with this stake.
